About Taboosey

Taboosey is a free online party word game built around the classic Taboo game concept. One player describes a target word to their team — without saying any of the forbidden taboo words — while their teammates race to guess correctly before the timer runs out. No physical cards needed. No app to download. Just open the site and play.

Playing alone? Taboosey's Solo vs AI mode lets one person play: the AI is the clue-giver and you're the guesser. It feeds you progressive clues for a hidden word and you answer by typing — or by speaking, with optional spoken clues read back to you. It's a full single-player Taboo experience that needs no one else in the room.

Why We Built Taboosey

The physical Taboo card game is a classic — but the cards get worn out, the box gets lost, and the 500-card deck eventually runs dry after enough game nights. Buying a new edition costs money, and the topics feel dated fast. We wanted a version that never runs out of words, works on the device already in your pocket, and lets you play on any topic you can dream up.

Taboosey solves all of that. The built-in word deck spans hundreds of original cards across six categories, and the Custom (AI) feature — powered by Google's Gemini API — generates fresh decks on any topic you type. A smart deck-memory system tracks which words you have already seen, so even over dozens of game nights, you never get a repeated card.
